How Cool Is This?
I know it won't make the world a better place to live in as far as Kevin is concerned but somehow when he realizes his times were much faster than all but two of the Open Wheel Division I bet he won't think finishing second place is too bad at all. The Open Wheel Division cars are the traditional race cars on Pikes Peak and purpose built. There appearance ranges from an Indy Car style to a dune buggy. Open wheel cars have competed in every Pikes Peak International Hill Climb since the first race in 1916.
As of this moment 7 of the classes have run the mountain and Kevin's time is the 5th fastest time oif the event. And to give you an idea of the kinds of cars that Kevin beat just take a look at two photos taken from last years Open Wheel Division one driven by world class Pikes Peak veteren Paul Dallenbach and the other by British racing Champion Richard Meaden. These are more like CanAm cars on knobby tires and keep in mind Kevin's car has interior and a stereo and I bet A/C as well!
