San Miguel de Allende -- C.A.S.A. -- Our Special La Carrera Cause

Dear Carreraistas:

On Thursday, April 16th, "Californians for C.A.S.A." will meet in San Francisco at "Workspace Limited," 2150 Folsom Street, 6:00-9:00 PM. That's between 17th and 18th Streets. Because food and rink will be provided, it is important that you RSVP to me soon.

C.A.S.A. is the charitable organization that the Coyote Convoy supports in San Miguel de Allende on our journey down to the start of the race in Mexico each year.

C.A.S.A. provides a wide variety of programs to thousands of Mexican families in the San Miguel area -- from medical clinics to family-planning, child care, and anti-family violence programs. C.A.S.A. also has a world class midwifery program that is being emulated throughout Mexico and South America.

With the support of Carreraistas in the U.S. and Mexico, C.A.S.A. is also planning to launch a program to educate and train mechanics.

Please join us on April 16 to meet the co-founders of C.A.S.A., Ms. Nadine Goodman and Mr. Alejandro Gonzalaez, and to hear more about this wonderful organization, now in it's 26th year.

Please let me know if you are able to attend.

Additional info is available at www. casa.org.mx and www.casa.org.mx/donate.html. C.A.S.A. is registered as a non-profit under the IRS code, so contributions are tax-deductible.

Thanks.

DREAM MACHINES CORRAL -- APRIL 26 -- COASTSIDE

From Gerie Bledsoe's desk;

Hola!

I am making plans for a "Carrera Corral" at the Dream Machines show in Half Moon Bay airport on Sunday, April 26 -- 10:00 AM -- 4:00 PM.

Here is the web site for the event

As most of you from the Bay Area know, this is probably the largest show in the country of any machine that can drive, fly, plow, or saw wood.

One year they had a flight of P-51 Mustangs that strafed the airport, plus B-17 rides. Last year they offered B-25 rides. Other planes are available for rides, too.

It would be great to put our Carrera cars or other cars together under the Carrera banner, catch up, and see some of the fine machinery that comes to this show. It is all very informal. There is no judging, and food is available, of course.

The entry fee for each vehicle is $30, and that includes two tickets to the event. The standard admission at the gate is $20 per person, and there are deep discounts for children and senior citizens.

For those of you who do not know the Half Moon Bay area, it is a wonderful stretch of California coastline, which includes long sandy beaches and rocky cliffs. We are 30 miles south of the city of San Francisco, and about 30 minutes "over the hill" from the San Francisco International Airport.

We have a Ritz Carleton Hotel with a great golf course (LPGA quality at least), and the usual assortment of hotels and restaurants along the beach from Pacifica down to Santa Cruz. The famous surf break, Maverick's, and Pillar Point Harbor, with hotels and restaurants, are short walk from the airfield.

Dream Machines is a fundraiser for the Coastside Senior Center. If you wait until after April 15 to enter, the fee goes up to $35. The only rub is -- our cars must be at the airport early on Sunday morning, otherwise we park in the parking lot with the 100,000 spectators.

After we drop our cars or bikes off Sunday AM, we can have brunch somewhere with that special someone and then return later for the show. She can check out the machines or the boutiques along main street in HMB.

I live about 4 miles south of the airport, just off Highway #1, and have parking on the street for anyone towing a trailer queen to the show. If you plan to spend the night in HMB or live close by, please feel free to drop over come over at 7 PM for a beer. RSVP please!

Also, there is a NASA High Performance Driving Event at Sears Point (Infineon Raceway) that weekend (www.nasaproracing.com), and I will be there on Saturday, if anyone wants to test their car or get some driving instruction before they show it on Sunday. Lots of options this weekend!

So far five or six people have responded favorably to the corral idea, so it's a go. Please let me know if you plan to exhibit a car or just stop by as a spectator.

The show has only been canceled once because of the weather since I have lived here.

Thanks!

Gerie

One In A Million (Make that $3,750,000.00)

On a few very rare occasions along comes a car for sale that stands out more than others. Some cars stand out more so because of their beauty, some for their muscle, some for their history, or because they were one owner cars, or because of who owned or drove them, possibly because of their age and low mileage, how few were built, how fast they were accompanied with how much race heritage they had and so on.

But what would you say if I told you about a car that had all of the above and a lot more? While this deal may not include the kitchen sink it does however come with the original tires. For my buck this has got to be the one that stands out a lot more than most.

This is the first SC 427 Cobra built!! CSX-3021 was Carroll's personal pick to represent Shelby America and traveled with a GT-40 in the Cobra Caravan across the USA! This is the first of only two gold Cobra's built. This car has 3,800 original one owner miles!! This car is original, except for one repaint. Original, right down to the tires! This car is being offered with the original one owner title, as well as original payment book and dealer purchase order.

Screening Fast & Furious

Fast And Furious Trailer - Watch more Fast and Furious

I was invited to watch the screening of the latest Fast & Furious sequel in San Francisco yesterday and all I can say is BITCHIN!

Fast & Furious, New model. Original parts. has set the bar higher than it's ever been before and in doing so took things to a whole new level. In fact Fast & Furious is more like a two hour amusement park ride than a movie. Don't be surprised if movies continue to be this exciting theaters are going to be required to install seat belts.

No sooner than the theater went dark the action began in what can only be compared to the same sensation one gets just as a roller coaster comes over a crest of a steep drop that causes your heart to race, your breathing to stop and every muscle in the seat of your pants to go on full alert. And the best part of all... It stays that exciting for the full two hours!

For anyone who has taken part in La Carrera Panamericana this movie is MUST SEE. Not only is it one of the best car movies I have seen but there are a couple chase scenes through the streets of a Mexican village very much reminiscent of the La Carrera Panamericana pilotos haulin the mail while all the Mexican spectators look on.

Besides having more action than you'll find on the streets of Pamplona during the running of the bulls, what excited me so much was the awesome mixture of American muscle and import cars that are all too many times missing these days. Because of this mix everyone who buys a ticket will get the feeling that this movie was made especially for them young and old alike.

A good book will not only tell the reader a story but it will draw you inside giving you the feeling that not only are you watching the story but in fact you are part of it. That is exactly what the producers of this film have done with this action packed movie and it is guaranteed to keep you riveted to your seat for the full 2 hours.

Entertainment... you can't get more for your money anywhere.

In a theater near you starting April 3.
